Elizabeth worked in administration on base (in Alaska, for most of Erin's childhood) so the family was always surrounded by military life. Erin followed her parents' and brothers' examples and went into the military when she finished high school, working through her degree on the Navy's dime and towards becoming a pilot. Specifically she joined the Marines, which she felt suited her temperament, and she's more than demonstrated her ability. Her goal is to one day be a member of, and captain, the Blue Angels one day.
